Winter minimalism

This winter has been, perhaps busier than ever. I have had a few rare opportunities to photograph, with my day work taking so much time and most importantly, energy. Photography has been in part a therapy away from that. But that therapy requires only taking photos, it does not require or indeed always necessitate the sharing of said photos. The little activeness on that part has been on the easy to use platform that is instagram, not on wordpress.

And to counterpart it, the male Bearded Reedling a true Angry bird if there ever was one.

These little birds are very fun to photograph and observe and it was a great pleasure to be able to do it this winter as it requires a bit off a special weather.

Winter Mood

Winter mood by Jere Ketola on 500px.com

Snowy days came after the year changed. Cannot believe it s already 2017. The time seems to fly by so fast. I have changed jobs in November and it seems life is mostly Work -travel to home -sleep -travel to work -Work in tempo. Rare moments outside with a camera can be truly precious.

Hope you are having a wonderful start to the new year!

Last row

Winter has first arrived and now it seems gone again. Nature is poised between winter proper and autumn.

Last week we had the first snow here in Helsinki and now as I write it, it has melted away as the weather took a sudden turn for the warmer.

I have been totally immersed in my work life, as I have, once again taken a leap to another work place. Seems the time between workday and the next is way too short currently, but I have a lot of faith that the situation will get better as I get more and more into the job and learn the new people and the new things I have to be responsible for. Still a huge change. Photography has been taking a second fiddle and the writing of the blog has been totally out of my mind for the time being.

I am thinking of how to breathe more fresh air into this, probably something like a photo a day again would be good.

Last row before the winter. by Jere Ketola on 500px.com

Took this photo with my trusty Nikon as a old lady was out for the last row of the season before winter arrived with snow, ice and coldness. A beautiful moment for sure!

How are all you doing?

Living with the Honor 8

As is often the case it takes a while to get to know a device and really be able to enjoy the full cabalities.
Having used the Honor 8 for a while it seems I have gelled with phone and it is an extension of me when out and about.

I have really fallen for the monochrome cabality esoecially as it seems I sometimes see in black and white.

Walking, working and generally living in the capital region of Finland it has always been a habit of mine to document life and its beautiful moments.

The beautiful light in this city, the architecture, the people. Especially in the fall and spring the light is almost constantly in such a low degree that it casts beautiful shadows.

Indoors in Helsinki you can see the lovely architecture, this photo taken in a library testifies of that.

Or you can enjoy the lovely seaside in many places, often gazing upon fellow Finns basking in the sun, enjoying the calm serene moments of life. And the camera, the phone, always along for the ride.

Feels like Summer to me

Curvy by Jere Ketola on 500px.com

Spring has come once more to this far northern land. Everywhere green seems to be sprouting out and the nature is so alive now. We have also been enjoying a rather warm may in general, with temperatures climbing over +20C.

Forests are full of flowers and the sun rises earlier and earlier and sets later and later. Soon it will be light all around the clock.

Forests have mysteries hidden in them, more often than not. Here an abandoned house in the midst of woods.

All photos taken with the lovely Canon G5X.

Grasping for straws

Grasping for straws by Jere Ketola on 500px.com

Ultra busy start to the year so far. Already summer is looming and I have not yet been able to edit or go through all my photos that I have taken this year or the last year for that matter. Time is really not a thing I have too much of at the moment. Happily summer will be more free of timetables.
