Reflecting on Water
Somehow I have always been drawn towards water. It may have something to with the places we have lived when I was a kid, or it may stem from my longing to see new and different places. I tend to always be drawn to the shore of any lesser or bigger spread of water. I love to swim as well as dive so my love of water goes far deeper than just staring at the expanse of water nearby.
I spent quite a few years in a part of Finland where lakes or the sea are not so near and somehow I found myself always visiting the nearest small lake with quite a few trips to the biggest lake in the area and the nearest sea shore having to be taken.
Nature is so wonderfully beautiful and water is such a necessity for our survival. Sometimes the intensity of the water is stupendous and other times the calmness and stillness is almost eerie.
There used to be a road on the beach side of this palm tree. Nowadays the Pacific has taken over the road and humans have had to get used to the fact that the climate is changing.
Some of the most memorable places I have visited have been shoreside. Also some of the most terrible places. Seeing what was left and what devastation the Tsunami of Boxing day 2004 caused was humbling.
Water alters how we see the world and how we live . And I love water.
Even the pesky white stuff it turns into in the winter.
Ohrid
Makedonia on suomalaisittain harvinaisempi matkakohde.
Macedonia is a country in the Balkans. It is located north of Greece and between Bulgaria and Albania. Less traveled than most its neighbors it still offers a lot of original experiences vs the rather homogenized tourist destinations. Some pics to tell the tale:
